Dijon MotorsCup 2016 - 200km de Dijon

Mark Devis in his 3 litre TOJ SC303 that qualified second.
This event was meant to evoke the great days when the World Championship Sports Cars would visit Dijon for events such as the 1000kms.  Once one got over the disappointment that no Matra-Simcas, Mirages, Alfa Romeos, Alpine Renaults or Ferraris were present, there were actually some interesting cars in the field. Eligible cars included sports prototypes, GT and Touring Cars  produced up to 1979 plus Sports 2000 cars produced up to 1984,  The event was held over two 100km races on Sunday but I got up early and attended the qualifying on Saturday morning instead.
The cars come out to play with the variety in the field emphasized by this shot of a Chevron B8 leading a Lola T590 and a Chevrolet Monza.
It soon got very busy out on the track with Elvas, Gracs, Chevrons and a Porsche 914/6
Then the 5.4 litre Huffaker Mk10 of Adam Simmonds hit trouble and deposited liquid on the track..........

......which led to the Martin BM9 of George Douglas leaving the circuit.
Denis Liquiere and his Techma 755.
The Lola T290 of Mark Richardson leads the Royale RP17 of Kevin Cooke.  This Lola qualified third and top 2 litre car.
The Elva Mk8 of Oliver Douglas.
The 3 litre Lola T282 of Leo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield that qualified on pole position nearly 4 seconds faster than the opposition.
3.5 litre BMW 3.0CSL shared by Chrisrtian Dumolin and Christophe Van Riet qualified fastest in class.
The Lola T590 of Michel Dupont passes the marshall at the entry to turn 8.
The thundering 5.7 litre Chevrolet Monza of Gilles Ceron that was fastest in its class and ninth overall in qualifying.
Another view of the Chevrolet Monza.
Kevin Cooke's Royale RP17 that qualified seventh.
The Grac MT14S takes to the kerbs after he gets the door shut on him by the Techma.
The Chevron B8 of Sandy Watson and Martin O'Connel tests the limits of the circuit on its way to eighth fastest time overall and fastest car in class.
John Spiers and his Osella PA3 who qualified sixth.
Detail on Guy Peters Chevron B23 that qualified fourth.
